Hydrography
Drain Mode
Due to hot weather and seepage, the river is shallow, especially between October and April . The water in the river is very muddy, often changes its course, like many rivers in Central Asia . The river is lost in the desert - a dry delta. In the valley grow tugai (tugai forest), surrounded by sand dunes. It freezes in winter.
Tributaries
- Taushkandarya

Flora and Fauna
Tarim and its tributaries are rich in fish ( marinka , ottoman , char ), in the lower reaches there are reed beds with nests of waterfowl.
Economic value
Despite the active support provided by the Chinese authorities for large-scale irrigation, most of the fertile land is used to maintain a traditional oasis economy, common in Muslim countries.
