Bian Que

The famous healer of the 6th century. BC e. Qin Yue-Ren 秦越 人, nicknamed Bian Que

Bian Que or Bian Qiao ( Chinese 扁鹊 ) - in Chinese mythology, one of the patron gods of doctors, in the image of which two different characters are mixed:

  1. the mythical Bian Que with a bird's beak and bat wings is an associate of the cultural hero-ancestor Huang-di , who helped him in recognizing the healing properties of plants. (The name Bian Cao in this case is explained through bian - the bat "mouse" and qiao - "magpie");
  2. real famous healer of the 6th century BC e. Qin Yue-Ren 秦越 人, nicknamed Bian Que.

According to legend, Bian Que adopted his art from the immortal Chansan-jun ("Mr. Long Mulberry Tree"), which gave him wonderful drops. After 30 days, Bian Cao was able to see through the walls and penetrate his gaze into the insides of man. In 521 BC e. Bian Cao, according to legend, revived the prince of the kingdom of Guo , after which the fame of his art spread throughout China. [1] Subsequently, Bian Que was deified as the patron saint of physicians and pharmacists. Sacrifices in honor of Bian Cao took place on the 24th of the 4th lunar month, on his birthday. On ancient reliefs, Bian Que is depicted as a human bird injecting a patient.
