History

In antiquity, the proto-Korean state of Puye was located on these lands, which in Chinese chronicles was recorded as "Fuyuy."

At the beginning of the Qing era, here was located the rate of fudutong Bodin (伯 都 讷), subordinate to the Jiangjun Ninguta - one of the 7 most important strongholds outside the Willow Palisade. In 1682, Bodin Postal Station was built, located on an important route connecting Ninguta Jiangjun with Qiqihar . In 1693, 20 li south of the Bodin postal station, a new town was built, called the "New Town of Bodin" (伯 都 讷 新城). In 1811, the Bodinsky Commissariat was established (伯 都 讷 厅), whose authorities were located in the "New Town of Bodina". In 1906, the Bodinsky Commissariat was elevated to the Xincheng Council (新 城府).

After the Xinhai revolution in China, the administrative division system was reformed, during which the councils were abolished, and in 1913 the Xincheng government was transformed into Xincheng (新 城县) county of Jilin province. As it turned out that counties with the same name exist in Hebei and Shandong provinces, in February 1914 the county was renamed Fuyuy.

In May 1946, the county became part of the Nenjiang Province, in May 1949 it was returned to the Jirin Province.

In November 1987, Fuyuy County was transformed into a city county.

In 1992, the State Council of the People's Republic of China established the Songyuan Urban District; at the same time, Fuyuy city district was liquidated, and its territory became the Fuyuy (扶余 区) district of Songyuan city district. In 1995, by the decision of the State Council of the PRC, Fuyuy County was re-created from part of Fuyuy District, and the remaining part of Fuyuy District became Ninjiang District.

On January 24, 2013, Fuyu County was transformed into a city county by the decision of the State Council of the PRC.

Administrative Division

The city county of Fuyuy is divided into 12 villages , 5 volosts and 1 national volost .
