Compositions
The main works of Duchenne:
- Études sur le Liber Pontificalis and a model edition of the text of this book,
- "Origines du culte chrétien",
- “Fastes épiscopaux de l'ancienne Gaule”;
- in collaboration with de Rossi , a critical publication by Jeromeim Martyrology .
Of the numerous articles (mémoires) of Duchenne on church history and literature, highly valued by German experts, the study of the Trinity dogma among the Donican church fathers is remarkable for its bold views. The campaign caused by this study against Duchenne, in order to deprive him of a theological chair, was not successful. However, his “Early Church History” ( Histoire ancienne de l'Église ) was included in the Index of Prohibited Books in 1912 as being too modernistic.
