After the 1968 season, NASL got into trouble when ten teams were disbanded at once. 1969 was divided into two halves. In the first half, the International Cup was played, a double round-robin tournament in which the remaining NASL clubs were represented by teams imported from the UK . The Spurs were represented by Wolverhampton , which won the 1967 United Football Association championship as Los Angeles Wolves. The Spurs won the Cup. In the second half of 1969, the teams returned to their usual lineups and played 16 games on a schedule without playoffs.
The Spurs finished the season in last place in the Northern Division in 1970 and shortly thereafter ceased operations.
