Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) of the Kyrgyz Republic acts in accordance with Art. 108 of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the Ombudsman (Akyikatchy) of the Kyrgyz Republic”.
The first Ombudsman, Tursunbai Bakir uulu, was elected on November 21, 2002 and took the oath on December 13, 2002 at the session of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.
February 14, 2008 Tursunbek Akun was elected Ombudsman (Akyikatchy) of the Kyrgyz Republic.
On June 27, 2013 Akun was prematurely dismissed by the parliament from his post [1] , the decision was appealed in court [2] .
On October 3, 2013, Akyykatchi (Ombudsman) elected [3] Amanbaev Baktybek Abdilashimovich, a leader of the Social Democratic Party. [4] . Residents of the republic actively complain to the Ombudsman - for example, in 2013 he received more than 2.4 thousand complaints, of which 59.8% were against the actions of judges and law enforcement officials [5] .
On June 25, 2015, the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic dismissed Baktybek Amanbaev ahead of schedule. On December 30, 2015, Kubatbek Tabildievich Otorbaev was elected Ombudsman. [6]
On September 26, 2018, Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh elected Tokon Mamytov as the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan.
