Ravidas ( Dev. रविदास ), also known as Raidas , Rohidas , Ruhidas, is an Indian poet, saint, mystic, and religious reformer. One of the brightest representatives of the bhakti movement . Presumably he lived in the XIV-XVI centuries (between 1376 and 1520). [1] [2] Especially honored in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra . Preached monotheistic doctrine. The religious hymns of his writings are included in the main sacred text of the Sikhs " Guru Granth Sahib ". [3] Ravidas opposed social and gender discrimination and advocated the elimination of confessional boundaries in the name of higher spiritual unity. [1] Ravidas taught that people should be distinguished not by caste, but by deeds, and that everyone, regardless of their origin, has the right to worship God and study sacred texts.
