Biography
Born in Leningrad in 1936. He began to fight in 1952 [4] . Already in 1955 he won second place at the USSR Championship. Then, at the championships of the USSR, he struggled with variable success (in all, he played at 14 championships). In 1958 he became the owner of the World Cup.
In 1960, the USSR Championship took only third place, but was selected to participate in the Olympic Games.
At the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, he fought in the weight category up to 87 kilograms (light heavy). The winner is determined by the minimum number of penalty points: no penalty points were awarded for a clear victory ( carcass ), 1 penalty point was awarded for victory by decision of the judges; 4 penalty points were awarded for a net loss; 3 penalty points were awarded for a points loss; 2 penalty points for a draw. The athlete who received 6 penalty points before the final bouts was eliminated from the tournament. When there were three or fewer wrestlers left, they played medals among themselves.
In battles:
- in the first round he won by a decision of the judges against Eugen Holzer ( Switzerland ) and received 1 penalty point;
- in the second round, he won by a decision of the judges against Valcho Kostova ( Bulgaria ) and received 1 penalty point;
- in the third round, at the 12th minute, he was stewing Caesar Ferreres ( Venezuela );
- in the fourth round, he lost to Ismetu Atli ( Turkey ) by a decision of the judges and received 3 penalty points;
- in the fifth round, he defeated Dan Brand ( USA ) by a decision of the judges and received 1 penalty point.
Having 6 penalty points dropped out of the tournament. Since there were only two finalists, a meeting was held for third place with the Viking Palm , who also dropped out with the same points. A draw was recorded in their meeting, and the bronze medalist was determined by weighing. Albul turned out to be somewhat lighter and won a bronze medal.
After the Olympic Games, she finally became the champion of the USSR in 1962 and in 1963 defended the title.
