Biography

He received his musical education at the Higher State School of Music in Warsaw , from which he graduated as a pianist (Jerzy Lefeld in 1964), composer (Peter Perkovsky in 1962) and conductor (Bohuslav Matei in 1969). In 1961, he became the winner of the Polish National Piano Competition named after Ignacy Paderewski . In 1973 he was awarded the prize for composing activity for children and young people.

From 1970 to 1972 he conducted the orchestra of the Warsaw Bolshoi Theater. In 1972, he founded the Polish Chamber Orchestra , which later gained fame under the new name Sinfonia Varsovia . At the panel of this orchestra, he recorded more than ten records of various musical genres and styles from the music of the Baroque to the present. From 1975 he also worked as a conductor in the Polish Radio Orchestra .

From 1983 to 1993, he acted as chief conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra , with whom he annually participated in promenade concerts at the Albert Hall in London. The records of this orchestra under the direction of Maksimyuk twice became the best records of the year according to the Gramophone magazine version.

He also performed with a number of other orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra , the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the French National Orchestra , the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra , the Philharmonic Orchestra , the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra , the Israel Chamber Orchestra , the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra , the Chamber Orchestra , and the Los Angeles Band , and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra ; other.

Known as a composer. In addition to a number of academic musical works, he is the author of music for several Polish films of the 1970s and 1980s.
