Emelian Mikhailovich Granovsky ( 1859 - January 23, 1934 ) - rector of the Assumption Cathedral , teacher of the Taganrog male gymnasium , founder of the private gymnasium in Taganrog .
Biography
Graduate of the Ekaterinoslav Theological Seminary [1] .
At 28, he married Antonina Vasilyevna Savitskaya, the daughter of a college registrar, a nobleman. From life together, he had four sons and four daughters. We lived at 87 Chekhovskaya (modern numbering). The younger brother Fedor married one of Blonsky ’s many daughters, Victoria. Before the end of the seminary, Father Emelyan served in the Archangel-Mikhailovsky Church, after graduating from it - as a priest in the Assumption Cathedral, under the Soviet authority, rector.
In 1908, Taganrog opened a private male four-year gymnasium in a mansion at ul. Petrovskaya 89 [2] .
Observer of all parish schools ( 1912 ) [1] . Under Soviet rule, under compulsion, he moved to the Renovationists [1] .
He was friendly with the Taganrog historian P.P. Filevsky , who characterized him as a man not stupid, not looking for cheap popularity and who was in his place.
Despite persecution by the Bolsheviks, he did not change the appearance of the shepherd. I wore a cassock, a beard, and hair according to church tradition. I got into the renovationists by force of circumstances, but not by conviction: where to go if you need to feed your family. In Soviet times, he suffered many misfortunes, by the end of his life he was completely broken. He died on January 23, 1934 .
