Biography
Education and medical science
In 1933 he graduated from the University of Malta , received an education in the field of pharmaceutics. In 1937 he became a doctor of medicine. During World War II, he served as a regimental surgeon in the Royal Artillery of Malta, and then as an oculist in a military hospital in the city of Mtarfa. In 1946, he completed his medical education with a diploma of an ophthalmologist from the University of Oxford. He also had an oculist diploma from the Royal Surgical College, where he worked as a visiting scientist. In 1953, he was awarded the doctoral degree of the London Society of Apothecaries.
After his return to Malta, he worked for several years as an ophthalmologist at various hospitals in the country. At the same time for several years he was a WHO expert on work in conjunctivitis foci. In this capacity, he worked in Taiwan, in Indonesia and in Iraq. In 1954 he founded the medical association of the country and was its long-term president. Since 1957. - Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology, University of Malta.
Party activities
Since the early 1960s. begins active political activities Tabone was politically active.

- 1972-1977 - First Vice-Chairman
- 1977-1985 - Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Nationalist Party . In 1978-1987 at the same time was the official representative of the party in international affairs.
Government activities
- 1966-1989 - a member of the House of Representatives, also actively worked in various commissions of the Council of Europe,
- 1966-1971 - Minister of Employment, Labor and Social Security. In this capacity in 1968, he drew the UN’s attention to the problem of an aging population,
- 1987-1989 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta. Actively advocated the adoption of the UN Convention on Climate Change,
- 1989–1994 - President of Malta.
Facts
- Vincent "Chinsu" Tabone did not live to be 99 years of two weeks.
