Sports career
He played for the Kansas Ceyhokes team, which in 1952 won the championship of the National University Sports Association . Kansas became the backbone of the US team that won the gold of the Olympic Games in Helsinki (1952). However, Hoag himself was primarily regarded as an American football player, speaking at the All-Big Eight conference. At the end of the Olympics, the athlete was seriously injured and ended his career.
After graduating from college, he worked as an insurance broker.
