Maydarzhavyan Ganzorig ( Ganhuyag ; Mong. Maydarzhavyn Ganghuig , born in 1949, Tsetserleg , Mongolia ) is a Mongolian understudy. Hero of Labor of the Mongolian People's Republic ( 2011 ).

Biography

Born on February 5, 1949 , in the city of Tsetserleg in the Arakhangai aimak of Mongolia. Prior to his selection as a candidate for cosmonauts, he bore the name Ganghuag, which was changed at the insistence of the Soviet side because of its cacophony in the Russian language. [one]

Education

In 1969 he entered and in February 1975 graduated from Kiev Polytechnic Institute , receiving a diploma in Thermodynamics Engineering. Since 1977 he studied and in 1978 graduated from the Mongolian Physical-Technological Institute . From 1981 to 1984, he wrote his thesis at the Institute of Space Research in Moscow, and after his defense he received a degree in technical sciences. Doctor of Science, Professor. Author and co-author of articles in a number of international scientific journals.

Specialty

From 1975 to 1977 he worked in one of the research institutes of Ulan Bator . From 1984 to 1991, he worked as the head of the remote sensing laboratory at the Mongolian Institute of Physics and Technology. Since 1991, he has been working as Director of the Institute of Informatics and Remote Sensing (Institute of Informatics and Remote Sensing) of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia.

Flight Preparation

After being selected as a candidate for astronauts in January 1978, he was called up for active military service. He was one of the four selected candidate finalists sent at the end of January 1978 to be examined at TsVNIAG in Moscow. In March 1978, he was selected as one of the two Mongolian cosmonaut candidates under the Intercosmos program. He began training at the Cosmonauts Training Center. Yu. A. Gagarin in April 1978 and in October of the same year was assigned to the backup crew of the Soyuz-39 spaceship. Understudy of the first Mongolian cosmonaut J. Gurragchi . The peculiarity of the selection of candidates for the flight in Mongolia was that not only civilian but also military specialists were allowed to attend. As a result, of the 12 proposed candidates for training were selected candidates:
