1/4 finals
first match March 3, 1998
  Ajax (Amsterdam)1: 3  Spartak Moscow)
  Spartak (Moscow) :

This match can be reviewed endlessly, and the goal of Kechinov entered all kinds of ratings of the best goals. Tikhonov launched an attack from the left, transferred the ball to the center of Tsymbalaru, the one to the right - to Alenichev, and the current coach of the Tula Arsenal withstood a brilliant pause and rolled out a shell to Kechinov. Caught face to face with a magnificent van der Sar, one of the most technical Spartak players mockingly put the Dutchman on the lawn and sent the ball past him. In approximately this vein, the β€œred and white” acted for 90 minutes, literally dumbfounding Ajax, along with its stars - the brothers de Burai, Mikael Laudrup, Danny Blind and others. Oh, what kind of "player" they called the composition of the Dutch team, and against the backdrop of Spartak, the Amsterdam team turned out to be insolvent.
