The founding conference of the party took place only on December 9-10, 1992. The party Council (21 people) was elected at the conference, which, in turn, elected the Executive Committee (11 people), the chairman of the Council ( Oleg Smolin ) and the secretary of the Executive Committee (Alexander Segal).
It was not officially registered, but in November 1992, documents were filed for registration with the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
At the I Congress, O. Smolin was elected chairman of the party. In the fall of 1994, part of the leaders of the Labor Party took part in the creation of the Social Democratic Union (B. Kagarlitsky actively spoke against this). Then the activity of the party virtually ceased.
