Content
History of the creation of the monastery
The monastery belongs to the Diocese of Brest. Stone Transfiguration Church was built in 1725 or in 1771 . According to the architectural style of the Baroque with the features of classicism . In 1839, a two-tier belfry was built next to it. The monastery was founded at the Holy Transfiguration Church in December 1999 : the blessing of the Archbishop of Brest and Kobrin Constantine was received on the conversion of the Transfiguration of the Savior Parish into the Transfiguration of the Savior male deserts. In 2004, the desert transformed into a monastery in honor of the Transfiguration.
Monastery Shrines
The monastery has a list of the Czestochowa Icon of the Mother of God . In the monastery near the icon held the rank of exorcion of demons, which was in the XVII century, the Kiev Metropolitan Peter Grave . The monastery also has an old icon of St.. Nicholas [1] [2] .
Monastery Temples
The monastery has two temples:
- The Savior Transfiguration Church, listed as a cultural property of the Republic of Belarus ,
- Chapel Temple in the name of the Czestochowa Icon of the Mother of God (2000).
The present state of the cloister
Despite the large flow of pilgrims, the cloister in Khmelevo is continuously being built, and on its own. The monks built three buildings for living and a refectory building, garages, outbuildings. A small hotel was built for pilgrims, the monks cultivate 22 hectares of land, engaged in field farming, gardening, beekeeping [3] .
