Ruta-110

The complex "RUTA-110"

RUTA-110 is a set of input-output / storage / information processing devices designed for building data processing systems [1] . Developed in 1968 in hard-ware computers, Vilnius , project leader - A. Nemeikšis. It was produced from 1969 to 1972 at the Vilnius Computing Machinery Plant, a total of 37 complexes were produced.

The complex includes:

  • The processor "Ruta-111", performing calculations and controlling other devices. RAM for 16 thousand characters, the length of the character - 8 bits . Speed - 5.5-9 thousand op / sec. The representation of numbers is binary-decimal with a fixed comma.
  • P601 Punch Card I / O Device.
  • R503A punched tape I / O device. Input speed - 1000 lines per second, output - 80 lines per second.
  • Storage devices with removable magnetic disk cassettes R401
  • Alphanumeric printing device (ADC) 128-2M. Print speed is 400 lines per minute. A roll paper of 420 mm width was used.
  • The R201 control panel with the printing machine

Additional devices:

  • Two to eight magnetic tape storage devices
  • Up to eight magnetic drives
  • Optional Punch Card I / O Device
  • Device for collecting and issuing data for communication of the processor: with data recording devices, data transmission devices by telephone , communication with teletypes , telegraph channel, communication device with another Ruta-111 processor, and other devices.

The Ruta-110 complex allowed up to three programs to be executed simultaneously, in parallel with the calculations, the processor interacted with external devices.

Currently, the Ruta-110 complex can be seen in the Museum of the History of Communications, Kaunas.
