Jakob Spens ( Swede. Jakob Spens ; 1656 - January 8, 1721 , Stockholm ) - Swedish military leader, associate of Charles XII , president of the Berg College .
Born in the family of Major Axel Spence and Sofia Rutter.
Since 1676, Spence served as lieutenant colonel in Adelssfan . In 1680, he was appointed lieutenant colonel of the Leigregiment, and in 1693 he became colonel of the Cavalier Guard regiment. In 1698 he was promoted to major general from the cavalry, in this rank he participated in the first campaigns of Charles XII . During the fighting, he showed himself perfectly, and already in 1701 he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general .
In 1702 he took part in the battle of Klishev , commanded the second line of the right flank of the Swedes, in 1703 he fought at Pultusk . In 1704 he was promoted to full generals, but Spence soon left military service and returned to Sweden.
In 1710 he was appointed royal adviser and became president of the Berg College, two years later he was granted the title of count.
He died on January 8, 1721 in Stockholm. Since 1680, he was married to Baroness Beate Bunde, who was the daughter of state treasurer Gustav Bunde.
