On April 16, 1945, a rifle company under the command of the Guard Lieutenant Shelikhov swiftly captured the German trenches on the Oder bridgehead, and a week later, on April 23, it broke into the outskirts of Berlin. The enemy now and then turned into counterattacks. On this day, the company of Shelikhov beat off fifteen counterattacks. The ammunition ran out, and the fascists, with the support of two tanks, counterattacked again. Then Shelikhov took the place of the gunner to the trophy gun. Having let the first tank go 30-40 meters, he set fire to it with a well-aimed shot, and destroyed dozens of enemy soldiers with shrapnel. But the second tank broke the cannon. Guard Lieutenant Shelikhov was wounded sixth during the war, but did not leave the battlefield.
