Cassius Longinus or Dionysius Cassius Longinus ( Greek Λογγίνος , lat. Cassius Longinus ; 213 year - 273 year ) - Greek philosopher and rhetorician ; Neoplatonist III century . In his teaching, he denied the Platonic difference of the divine mind from the absolute principle and rejected ecstasy in the sense of the highest degree of ascent to the deity .

Biography
A pupil of Ammonius Sakkas , a teacher of Porfiry , then a mentor and adviser to Queen Palmyra of Zenobia , after whose defeat he was executed by Emperor Aurelian (273 year).
Creativity
For a long time he was considered the author of a treatise on the aesthetics "On the Sublime" ( Greek Περί ΰψους ), but the authorship was constantly disputed, and the author of the composition was called Pseudo-Longinus .
