Biography

The representative of the princely family of the Radziwill coat of arms of the "Pipe" . The son of Chancellor of the great Lithuanian Dominic Nikolai Radziwill (1653-1677) and his first wife, Princess Anna Marianna Polubinsky . Large landowner.

He studied at the Nesvizh Jesuit College. After the death of his father in 1697, his elder brother Jan Nikolai received custody of him and his younger brother Michal Anthony .

In 1699 he went abroad with his older brothers. Studied in Paris . In 1704 he returned to his homeland. He inherited the Old Town Coven .

During the Great Northern War , the Swedes were [ specify ] on the side of Augustus II of Poland [1] .

He participated as an ambassador (deputy) in many Saeima (1718, 1720, 1722, 1726). In 1721, he signed an agreement in Minsk between Jan Sologub , the Lithuanian Great Carpathian and Mikhail Radziwill Rybonka .

He paid a lot of attention to the Lithuanian army. For some time he served as commander of the troops of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Since 1729 - governor of Novogrudok. After the death of Augustus II, he opposed the election of the Great Polish gentry by the king Stanislav Leshchinsky , his position was supported by the brother of his wife - Ignatius Zavisha .

Being a supporter of the election to the throne of Augustus III of Saxony , he hoped to receive new military posts for himself and his sons.

Considering that the numerous estates of Radziwill and his wife Barbara were burdened with large debts, their families did not belong to the richest in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The most important property acquisition during the life of Nikolai Faustin Radziwill is considered the city of Berdichev in Ukraine.

In 1740 he donated funds for the construction of a new building of the Sacramentoc Monastery at the Church of St. Casimir in Warsaw, which was joined by his daughter Anna Katarzyna [2] .

After the fire of 1743, he rebuilt the Church of the Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Dyatlov. After the death of her husband, his wife finished work in 1751.

He was an educated and well-read man. The author of several works on the history of the world and the peoples of Europe, journalistic works. Only his short descriptions of the fight against hydeamaks and about the invention by his son Udalrik of a machine for cleaning stakes, lakes and rivers from algae and weeds were published.

Radziwill died in Dyatlovo on February 2, 1746, and was solemnly buried in the family tomb in Nesvizh , and his heart was buried in the Dyatlovsky Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary .
