At first he was a well-known lawyer of the Paris Parliament, then he took the priesthood; from 1689 he was a mentor to the children of King Louis XIV , then prior of the Notre Dame church . During the regency was the confessor of Louis XV .

Of the works of Fleury, of particular importance is his Histoire ecclésiastique (P., 1719 et seq.), Which he brought to 1414 and continued by Fabre ( fr: Jean-Claude Fabre de l'Oratoire ).
