At first he was a well-known lawyer of the Paris Parliament, then he took the priesthood; from 1689 he was a mentor to the children of King Louis XIV , then prior of the Notre Dame church . During the regency was the confessor of Louis XV .
Of the works of Fleury, of particular importance is his Histoire ecclésiastique (P., 1719 et seq.), Which he brought to 1414 and continued by Fabre ( fr: Jean-Claude Fabre de l'Oratoire ). Other works by him: Histoire du droit français, Institution au droit ecclésiastique, Discours sur les libertés de l'Eglise gallicane, Moeurs Israélites, Moeurs des chrétiens, Discours sur la prédication, Grand catéchisme historique ”,“ Traité du choix et de la méthode des études ”.
