Biography

In 1963 he graduated, working in the Sverdlovsk Art Gallery, philological faculty of the Ural State University , in 1968 - graduate school of the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I. E. Repin of the USSR Academy of Arts in Leningrad (supervisor - professor I. A. Brodsky). Since 1968, he taught at the Department of Art History of USU, since 1987 he headed the department. He conducts the course “Russian Art of the End of the 19th – Early 20th Centuries”, special courses “Results and Problems of Studying Russian Art”, “Artistic Culture of the Silver Age”.

He is the author of many books and articles published by central, local and foreign publishers translated into foreign languages, about Russian art of the Silver Age, about the artistic culture of the Urals, about painters and graphic artists of Yekaterinburg.

The works of S.V. Golynts contributed to the expansion of the interests of the Ural school of art history, combining traditional attention to local topics with an appeal to all-Russian and world art problems. The research program “Russian Art: History and Present, Capitals and Provinces, Relations with Other National Schools” developed by S. V. Golynts unites under the auspices of the “Urals, Siberia and the Far East” branch of the Russian Academy of Arts many art historians in the eastern regions of the country.

Member of all-Russian and international scientific forums; organizer of art conferences in Yekaterinburg and Krasnoyarsk, Diaghilev readings in Perm (1987), which were part of the International Festival Diaghilev Seasons: Perm - Petersburg - Paris.

Member of the dissertation council D 212.286.08 for the defense of doctoral and master's theses in theory and history of culture, aesthetics, fine and decorative arts and architecture at the Ural State University.

Member of the editorial boards and editorial boards of the journals “Ural Federal District”, “ News of the Ural State University ”.

Member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation , the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) under UNESCO, the International Association of Art Critics (AIS).

Winner of Ural State University Prizes for the best scientific works (1975, 1991), Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region for outstanding achievements in the field of literature and art (1999), Recognition Prizes from the Administration of Yekaterinburg and the Library of the Head of Yekaterinburg for outstanding achievements in professional activities and personal contribution to the history of the city of Yekaterinburg (2004). He was awarded the Order of the First Degree “For the Benefit of Russian Culture” by the International Diaghilev Center (2009).

He died on February 20, 2018 in Moscow. He was buried in Yekaterinburg at the Siberian cemetery .

Public position

On March 1, 2014, he signed an appeal by cultural figures of Russia in support of the policy of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin in Ukraine and the Crimea [2] .
