Biography

Dondinho worked as a milkman. He was considered the football star of the city of Campus Gerais . Dondinho played for the local football team and, according to fans of the time, was one of the best players in the state. In one of the matches, his team lost, and the crowd was furious at the player. The club's president, Alcide Baker, fired Dondinho. The Brazilian went to Tres Corazoins , where he joined the local team and revealed his potential.

On April 7, 1940, he played in the match between Atletico Mineiro and San Cristovan and scored a goal, which became one of the most memorable in his career.

Dondinho died of a heart attack at the age of 79 in Sao Paulo on November 16, 1996.

Family

After Dondinho married Celeste Arantes, in October 1940 the son Edson Arantis was born in the family, later becoming better known as Pele . Pele, the “king of football," said that one day his father showed him a clipping from a newspaper that wrote about a game in which Dondinho had five goals in his account, and all with his head. This record of his father, “King” sought to beat his entire career.
