Biography and Creativity
He graduated from the University of Warsaw [1] . He translated all the dramatic works of Becket, as well as part of his poetry and essays. He has directed a number of Beckett dramas in Poland and abroad, in his productions Tadeusz Lomnicki , Zbigniew Zapasevich , Maya Komorowska , Andrzej Severin , Adam Ferenci , Zbignev Zamakhovsky were involved [1] .
He also translated the dramas of Sophocles ( Oedipus the King ), Shakespeare (re-translated Macbeth ), Racine ( Fedra ), Wilde , poems by Horace , Goethe , Schiller , Hölderlin , Cavafys , Eliot , Yates , Larkin , the libretto of the operas Britten ( Death in Venice ) and Penderetsky ( Black mask , King Ubyu ).
The author of the novel Madame ( 1998 ), translated into more than 20 languages, nominated for several awards and received the prize of the publishing house Znak [2] . He owns the autobiographical book of Godot and his shadow ( 2009 ).
He published the journal Pulse ( 1988 - 1993 ), and was the head of the literary department at the Warsaw Drama Theater ( 1996 - 2001 ).
Member of PEN Club , Association of Polish Writers, Samuel Beckett Society (USA).
Recognition
Literatura na Świecie magazine award for translations of Beckett's prose ( 2005 ) [3] . Silver medal "For Merits in the Culture of Gloria Artis" ( 2010 ) [4] .
Interesting Facts
Stanislav Baranchak in his essay Onomanagrams proposed 36 anagrams composed of the name and surname of Libera, among them - Inertia Balon, Nina B. Loteria and others.
