San Francisco Municipal Railway (literally, San Francisco Municipal Railway ) is a public transport operator of the city and county of San Francisco ( USA ). The spoken language of the San Francisco Municipal Railway is usually simply called Muni for short.
Muni's transportation system operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. At night, from 1:30 to 5:30, only buses operate, and they run on special night routes that differ from the day ones.
The Muni system includes five types of public transport: bus , trolley , modern light rail, historic electric tram and historic cable tram . In total, the number of Muni routes is eighty, of which:
- 55 bus (many of which use articulated buses);
- 14 trolleybus
- 7 routes of a modern tram ;
- 3 routes of a historical cable tram ;
- 1 route of a historic electric tram.
Rates
With the exception of cable trams, fares with a special Clipper Card or MuniMobile are US $ 2.50 (cash 2.75) for adults; $ 1.25 (1.35) for seniors over 65, youth between 5 and 18 years of age, people with disabilities, and Medicare cardholders; and free for low and middle income seniors, youth between 5 and 18 years old, people with disabilities living in San Francisco, and up to three children under 5 years old per adult. [1] One payment entitles you to an unlimited number of transfers for the next mode of transport within 90 - 120 minutes. A cable tram ride costs US $ 7 one way non-stop (or at a surcharge if the passenger has a Muni card).
