Team History

The Polish team has been participating in the tournament since 1966 and regularly playing in the world group for the first 30 years (the best result is the quarter-finals of the 1992 Cup). In 1994, Eastern Europeans flew out of the elite division for the first time, and a year later they even lost the right to play in Group I of the Europe / Africa zone. In 1997, Poland returned to the elite regional group and since then regularly played in it: in 1998, an attempt was made to return to the world division, but in the playoffs of the Eastern European countries they lost significantly to the Austrian national team , and seven years later Poland again flew to the second regional league by issuing a series of six losses in a row. This fall was the beginning of the restructuring of the team. In 2006, the sisters Urshula and Agnieszka Radwanska were invited to the national team - at that moment one of the leaders of junior tennis, who soon won a similar position in the adult round. With her at the head of the team, in 2007 she returned to group 1 of the regional zone, and a couple of years later she makes her way to the world zone, where, however, she only lingers for a season. According to the results of 2013, the team entered the II World Group, and a year later the I World Group, but already in the next two years (speaking in 2016 without both Radwan sisters), it made the return trip to the regional group.
