An active supporter of the revolution , in 1795 he underwent persecution and short-term imprisonment, then, to maintain his family, he became a craftsman. In 1798 he was elected deputy. In 1810, the poet J. Delil chose him as his assistant in the department of Latin poetry at the College de France . Upon the death of Delil in May 1813, Tisso replaced him in the department, which he lost in 1821; the revolution of 1830 returned it to him.
