Arik Air is a Nigeria airline headquartered in Ikej ( Lagos ) [1] , operating in the field of regular passenger traffic on the country's domestic routes and beyond. It has the status of the national air carrier Sierra Leone . The airline’s home port and its main transit hub ( hub ) is Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, and another carrier hub is located at Nnamdi Azikive International Airport ( Abuja ) [2] .

Content
History
Arik Air was founded in 2002 [3] .
On April 3, 2006, the airline acquired the infrastructure facilities of Lagos Airport, reorganized three years ago, Nigeria Airways [4] . On June 14 of the same year, Arik Air acquired two new Bombardier CRJ-900 airliners for domestic flights (and, in the fall of 2006, international flights), two Boeing 737-300 aircraft from United Airlines and three fifty-seater Bombardier CRJ ships -200 . On October 30, 2006, Arik Air opened regular passenger flights between Lagos and Abuja on CRJ-900 aircraft. On November 15 of the same year, the airline introduced a regular flight between Benin City and Enugu [5] .
The airline is wholly owned by Nigeria's investment holding Ojemai Investments [2] .
In 2007, Allied Air passed the re-registration procedure with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), thereby satisfying the requirements of the state body for the need to recapitalize and re-register all Nigerian airlines until April 30, 2007 [6] .
April 4, 2008 Arik Air received permission from the US Department of Transportation to fly to airports in the United States of America [7] .
On August 6, 2010, the company transported a five millionth passenger on the route between Johannesburg and Lagos [8] .
Routing Network
In August 2006, the country's Federal Ministry of Aviation issued Arik Air permission for regular routes from Nigeria to Trinidad and Tobago , Amsterdam , London and Madrid . In addition, the airline plans to open regular passenger flights to Atlanta , Miami and Houston in the United States and Birmingham in the UK .
On December 15, 2009, Arik Air launched a regular route from Lagos to London Heathrow Airport on the wide-body airliner Airbus A340-500 [10] . On June 1 of the following year, a route started to Johannesburg International Airport [11] , and on November 30 of the same year, to John F. Kennedy New York International Airport [12] .
In April 2009, the subsidiary airline Arik Niger (IATA code Q9) began operating, but in February of the following year the company was liquidated by bankruptcy [13] .

In 2007, Arik Air placed an order for five long-haul Boeing 777-300ER airliners , but in 2011 the order was canceled [15] .
Accidents and accidents
- March 31, 2010. An Audi car crashed into the parking lot of the Calabar Boeing 737-700 international airport , breaking through two airport security lines before that. The driver was immediately detained, after which he claimed to be sent by Jesus Christ himself to punish sinners. During the incident, no one was hurt, the liner arrived from Lagos airport and was preparing to fly to Abuja [16] .
