Polish Legion in Portugal

General Jozef Boehm

The Polish Legion in Portugal ( Polish: Legion Polski w Portugalii ) is a Polish military unit formed in Portugal during the civil war of 1828-1834 .

The legion was formed by General Jozef Böhm , from among the Polish emigrants living in France. He intended to side with Pedro I.

Due to the fact that the Polish democratic environment was against the shedding of Polish blood for someone else's business, Boehm scored a few people. The Poles did not take part in the hostilities, because after the occupation of Lisbon, Pedro I tore up the contract with them. Bem himself, who protested against this, was arrested.
