Ferdinan Herold ( Fr. Biography
He received a law degree and a degree in 1851 . Working as a lawyer since 1848, he was able in 1854 to buy a lawyer in the State Council and the Court of Cassation . Being an ardent Republican , he participated in high-profile political processes and attracted the attention of imperial officials .
When the political regime returned to the republican ranks, Herold was appointed September 4, 1870, the secretary of the government for national defense and, the next day, the chief secretary of the Ministry of Justice. In this position, he was able to carry out a large number of reforms for the common benefit: the publication of laws in the Official Journal ( Journal officiel ); the introduction of the freedom of the professions of book publishers and booksellers; repeal of the , etc.
