The Monastery of St. Paraskeva [1] ( Serb. Monastery Sveta Petka ) is a convent of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Zagreb , the capital of Croatia .

History
The convent of Holy Friday was founded by Metropolitan Zagreb Dosifei (Vasić) in 1936 .
During World War II, the Croatian Ustashi expelled all nuns from it, except for a few Russians, who took care of the monastery as best they could. They took in the monastery several Serbian children sent from children's concentration camps [2] .
In 1945, during the liberation of Zagreb, a group of partisans desecrated the monastery. After the war, he was turned into a training unit of the police, in general, the monastery complex was used as a shooting range.
In 1955, it was returned to the Serbian Orthodox Church , but three years later a law was passed on nationalization, and the process of returning the monastery was delayed for several years. It should be noted that the Yugoslav authorities disputed the fact that it was once a monastery and referred to the alleged loss of the archive.
In 1968 , with the help of the Russian community of Zagreb, the beginning of its restoration. In the 1980s - 1990s there were no nuns in the monastery, but since 2000 it has been systematically restored and updated.
