Origin and history of names

On the first plans of the development of Uralmash is designated as Lomonosov Street. But this name was assigned to another street, and st. The 40th anniversary of October until 1957 was called Molotov , in honor of the Soviet party and statesman V.M. Molotov , after it was renamed the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution. On one of the development plans of Uralmash, the name Lomonosov Street is indicated. Perhaps this was just the project name. The street got its modern name in honor of the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution .

Location and amenities

The street of the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution runs from southwest to northeast between the streets of Lomonosov and Industry (the initial section to the Suvorov lane has a direction from south to north). The street starts at the T-junction with Mashinostroiteley Street and ends at Uprising Street [1] . It intersects with the streets of the 22nd Party Congress , Kirovgrad , Kalinin , Ural Workers , Victory and Voters . At the intersection of streets of the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution - Kalinin, Ordzhonikidze Avenue cuts the street diagonally. Suvorovsky Lane, Kultury , Festivalnaya and Dostoevsky Streets overlook the street on the left, Khmeleva and Bannikova Streets go to the right.

The length of the street is about 2630 meters. The width of the carriageway is about 12 m (two lanes in each direction). There are nine traffic lights along the street, there are no unregulated pedestrian crossings . On both sides of the street is equipped with sidewalks .

History

The appearance of the street is associated with the formation and development of the social city " Uralmashzavod " in the 1930s . The clearing marking the axis of the future street in the 1930s was one of the most remote. Witnesses talked about how they went here to pick berries and mushrooms, which were abundant here [3] .

The street stretches an arrow directly from the factory entrance. On this street was the oldest cinema in the city “Temp” (demolished in 2018). Not far from the cinema, the UZTM medical unit (city hospital No. 14) was located, which celebrated its half-century anniversary three years earlier than the factory, because doctors came to Uralmashinostroy together with the first builders [3] .

The street was first shown as being built on the plan of Sverdlovsk in 1939, where it already had its own name. The city plans of 1942 and 1947 show the development of several blocks both on the even and odd sides, the street was completely built up (up to Kommunisticheskaya Street) later. The development is mostly mid-rise (houses of standard series , “Khrushchev” and “Brezhnevka”), although in the northern part of the street there are several building complexes 9–14 floors high.

From the point of view of architecture, all its styles are most fully represented on the street, starting from the 1930s - 1940s. The section from Kultury Street to the market is the era of three- and five-story houses. More modern 14-story houses are located on the stretch from Kalinin Street to Victory Street. The Voters' Plot - Communist - the so-called "private sector" (small houses with personal plots), built in the post-war years. By order of the director of Uralmashzavod B. G. Muzrukov , a land plot was organized at the UHLC to assist builders of private houses with transport, materials and labor. Each developer for a month was exempted from basic work while maintaining wages [3] .

On the eve of the November holidays of 1956, the street got its modern name (40 years of October), previously it was called Molotov Street [3] .

On the eve of the October holidays of 1973, a new trolleybus line was launched along 40 years of October Street [3] .
