Biography

In 1937 he graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute , studied under the academician I.A. Fomin , professors I.V. Rylsky and N. Markovnikov , and was an assistant to the academician of architecture I.V. Zholtovsky . The head of the thesis project was the architect A.V. Vlasov , with whom V. Elizarov's further work will be connected.

After graduation, V. Elizarov worked in the Donbass (work on experimental projects of village and rural residential buildings), then in Moscow , where, together with A. Vlasov and V. Moskvin, the young architect worked on the project of the Botanical Garden of the USSR Academy of Sciences , participated in the design of buildings TsPKiO named after A.M. Gorky .

During World War II, Elizarov works as an architect, chief architect in the Military Project of the Moscow Military District, designing and constructing the city’s defenses.

Since 1944, V. Elizarov was appointed head of the architectural workshops (later - the Kievproekt design institute) and deputy chief architect of Kiev . He led the reconstruction of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Square , developed a project and led the reconstruction of Taras Shevchenko Boulevard . During 1949-1957 he was one of the developers of the Khreschatyk restoration and development project (co-authored with A. Vlasov, A. Dobrovolsky , B. Priymak and others).

On the street Khreshchatyk 26, designed by the architect in 1952, the television center building was built, in 1955, co-authored with L. Kulikov, A. Osmer, N. Shilo and G. Kulchitsky Victor Dmitrievich designed the building of the former Ministry of Agriculture of the Ukrainian SSR (24 Khreshchatyk St. ) V. Elizarov is one of the co-authors of the Khreschatyk metro station (1960).

Thanks to V.D.Elizarov’s petition, during the reconstruction and restoration of the main street of Kiev until the end of the 20th century, the building of the old post office (5 Khreschatyk St.), which had survived the war, was not demolished. During the reconstruction in 1955-1958, a pedestrian gallery was set up in this house, which stood for the "red line". Unfortunately, this house was demolished in the early 2000s in order to build a “skyscraper” in its place. In 1964, in collaboration with N. B. Chmutina and other architects, Victor Dmitrievich designed the Dnepr hotel (1/2 Khreshchatyk St.).

In collaboration with colleagues, V. D. Elizarov designed many structures in Kiev, among them: the complex of the new Kiev Zhuliany airport (1946-1949), the railway club in Darnitsa (1950), the printing plant on Brest-Litovsky Prospekt (now Victory Avenue , 1958-1965). The architect took an active part in the development of the draft master plan for the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the Ukrainian SSR (now the National Expocenter of Ukraine ) and its exhibition pavilions, in particular, the Pavilion of Grain and Oilseeds (1957).

Scientific research and design developments of Viktor Dmitrievich became the impetus for introducing into widespread practice new types of residential buildings, in particular, the complex of large-block houses in Zhdanov (now Mariupol ) (1952–1955) experimental residential buildings in Kharkov (1955–1956) large-panel buildings on Alekseevskaya street (1957-1961) and five and twelve-story large-panel experimental houses in residential areas of Kiev (1961-1965).

In 1953, Viktor Dmitrievich defended his thesis "Thin-walled ceramics in the architecture of residential buildings" [2] , in 1963 he defended his doctoral dissertation [3] . Among the scientific works that have become classical in architecture were “Building seven-year plan for Ukraine” (1960), “Ways to further develop industrialization, improve the quality and reduce the cost of housing construction in Kiev” (1962), “Construction and architecture. Dwelling houses ”(1964),“ Mass housing construction ”(1966).

In 1948-1963, V. D. Elizarov worked at the Academy of Architecture of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1950 he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Architecture, after the reorganization - full member of the Academy of Construction and Architecture of the Ukrainian SSR (1958), since 1961 - its vice president , and in 1992 - an honorary member of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture). He led the scientific activities of the Academy's institutes in the field of developing new progressive types of housing, in particular the activities of the Kiev Civil Engineering Institute (now the Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture ), the Scientific Research Institute of Architecture of Structures, and Institutes - Kievproject and Giprograd. From 1964 to 1975, V. D. Elizarov was the deputy, and then the first deputy chairman of the Gosstroy of the Ukrainian SSR.

In 1973, Viktor Dmitrievich developed a project for a twenty-story Kiev hotel (26/1 Mikhail Grushevsky St. ). At the time of construction, it was the tallest building in the Ukrainian SSR.

The construction of the memorial complex “Ukrainian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” (now the National Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 ) begins in the early 1970s. His pre-project was developed by sculptor E. Vuchetich and architect E. Stamo . Victor Elizarov led the creative team of leading architects in Kiev and Moscow. The architect coped with the task and starting from May 9, 1981 Kiev is no longer represented without the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the monument "Motherland" . For a significant contribution to the creation of the memorial complex of V. D. Elizarov and other project participants were awarded the Lenin Prize (1984).

During the construction of the museum on the slopes of the Dnieper was created Pechersky landscape park . On its territory paved paths, arranged recreation areas, broke lawns and flower beds. In the late 1980s, in the central part of the park, the Singing Field was created.

Victor Elizarov died on February 20, 1995 .
