The length of the river is 35 km [2] . It flows through the territory of the Karaginsky region of the Kamchatka Territory [3] . It falls into the Gulf of Shelikhov of the Sea of ββOkhotsk .
The name is translated from Koryak. Gyltavayam - βthe river flowing in the snowβ (most likely they mean frost) [4] .
According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Anadyro-Kolyma basin district .
