Biography

Early years

Vasily Shakaliy was born on May 10, 1920 in the village of Krupoderintsy of the Orzhitsky district of the Poltava region of Ukraine into a Ukrainian peasant family. Having received primary education, he worked on a collective farm.

Participation in the Great Patriotic War

Since September 1943, Vasily Shakali served in the Red Army and took part in the battles of World War II.

After the war
