Biography
Hill Wood was born in Kensington , London . His father, Denis Hill-Wood, three uncles and grandfather played cricket for the team of Derbyshire . He attended Eton College with the future director of Arsenal, Sir Roger Gibbs. Hill Wood later served in the Coldstream Guards Regiment. After leaving the service, he went to work in the banking sector, rose to the position of vice chairman of Hambros Bank .
He married in 1971 and has three children: Julian, Charles and Sarah [1] .
Career
He represents the third generation of his family as president of Arsenal, after his father, Denis Hill-Wood (1962-1982) and grandfather, Samuel Hill-Wood (1929-1936 and 1946-1949). Peter Hill-Wood succeeded his father after his death in 1982. His responsibilities as the club president did not include resolving sports issues and routine management of the club; managing director Ken Freer and coach Arsene Wenger were responsible for this.
Peter attracted his former colleague Chips Kezik [2] to the club’s board of directors, who used his connections to finance the construction of the new Arsenal stadium [3] . On June 14, 2013, Hill Wood resigned; Keswick took over as president of the club.
Health
On December 2, 2012, Hill Wood suffered a heart attack [4] .
