Biography
Grigory Timofeevich Vasev was born December 24, 1922 in the village of Novo-Samarsk (now the Abzelilovsky district of Bashkortostan ) in a peasant family. He graduated from high school, lived and worked in the city of Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk region . In 1940, Vasev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army of the Magnitogorsk City Military Commissariat . In 1943, Vasev graduated from the Chkalov Military Aviation Pilot School . In the same year, Vasev joined the CPSU (b) . Since July 1943 - on the fronts of World War II. By March 1945 of the Guard, Senior Lieutenant Grigory Vasyov commanded the link of the 165th Guards Assault Air Regiment of the 10th Guards Assault Air Division of the 17th Air Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front [1] .
During the period of his participation in the hostilities from July 1943 to March 1945, Vasev made 143 sorties on the Il-2 attack aircraft for bombing, reconnaissance and attacking enemy equipment and manpower [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 18, 1945, for “exemplary execution of the combat missions of the command and the courage and heroism shown in battles with the German invaders” of the guard, senior lieutenant Grigory Vasev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal under the number 8830 [1] .
In 1946, with the rank of captain, Vasev was transferred to the reserve. In 1947 - 1949 he was at the Komsomol job in Magnitogorsk, then he worked in the USSR state security organs, having retired with the rank of colonel. He lived in the city of Yeysk, Krasnodar Territory , and died on December 31, 2004 [1] .
He was also awarded three orders of the Red Banner and three orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, as well as a number of medals [1] .
