Story

Bagrov, convicted of malicious hooliganism, flees from the colony. The investigation in his case was conducted by Znamensky. Bagrov is not an inveterate criminal, but simply an impulsive and proud man of irrepressible energy, moreover, a drunkard who does not control himself in the hop. “A guy with steep drifts,” characterizes Tomin. Bagrov loves his wife Maya and is very jealous. Tomin manages to find out the motive for the escape: the schemer-solicitor Kalishchenko (who lived in the same town as the Bagrovs) inspired Bagrova that his wife was cheating on him with the director of the local school Zagorsky. It is clear that Bagrov will appear in his provincial city of Elovsk and will probably take revenge.

Bagrov really appears in the city, meets with his wife, explains to her, begins to understand that they are deceived, and already decided to go give up to the police, but after meeting with his daughter Katya, who directly declares that he ruined the life of both his mother and her, breaks down: gets drunk, stops the truck on the highway, throws the driver, jumps up behind the wheel himself and goes to the neighboring city to look for Zagorsky. Having shot down a policeman-motorcyclist, Bagrov takes his pistol. Driven by a police chase, he climbs into a barn on the side of the road. Tomin alone goes to him to negotiate, to reason and persuade to surrender. Tomin is almost getting his way, but randomness intervenes - the wind opens the barn door. Inflated, Bagrov takes this as the beginning of the assault and shoots. “Fool!” Says Tomin, falling.

Bagrov was detained. Yelovskaya police say very pessimistic about Tomin’s condition; Znamensky reacts to a phone call in the finale as if it was tragic news; nevertheless, there is no direct mention of Tomin’s death [1] .

Movie Features

“Escape” is a kind of performance of Inspector Tomin: of all the connoisseurs, he is actually the only one in this film who does his work. Znamensky and Cybrit are mostly waiting for his return to the festive table.

In "Escape" is the only auto-chase in the series; a shot sounds for the first time; first shown the edge of Tomin’s personal, unofficial life; for the first time, explicit mention is made of the once intimate relationship between Znamensky and Cybrit; for the first time in the frame, the hero sings to the guitar; for the first time, other songs are heard, except the title one - Tomin’s song “And past the shadow windows in the snow ...” and “Where are you, melodious accordion” (performed by Valentina Tolkunova ) [2] ; in general, the musical series is much richer and more emotional than in other series. Unlike earlier episodes, “Escape” has many scenes shot in nature.

In one of the episodes of the film, the crook Kovalsky nicknamed the Surgeon (Grigory Lampe) reappears. He is serving his sentence in the same colony with Bagrov and Kalishchenko, and Tomin turns to him to understand the motive for the escape. The first time the Surgeon was shown in the second film "Your Real Name ...", and the third time will appear later - in "Podpaska with a Cucumber".

A friend of Maya Bagrova, a hairdresser from Elovsk Sergeyev, is a former Shakhin, the wife of the leader of a gang of robbers from the first film ("Black Broker").

Reviews

  • From the book of F.I. Razzakov (2009):

“Much luckier ... Tomin, played by Leonid Kanevsky. Of the "experts" he was the most charming, witty, cheerful. Therefore, when in a “case” called “Escape”, his hero was seriously wounded and the series ended incomprehensibly for the audience - either Tomin died or survived - they literally bombarded the television with letters demanding to leave the cheerful opera alive. To act contrary to the popular voice would be tantamount to suicide ” [3] .

  • Alexey Samokhvalov , director of the National Research Center for Television and Radio (2009):

“The work of the screenwriter Alexander Lavrov, one of the co-authors of the series“ Investigators Are Conducting Investigators, ”two films from which“ Blackmail ”and“ Escape ”can be reliably attributed to the classics of the Russian television detective story, as well as films based on the scripts of Arkady, also belong to the turn of 1960-1970. Weiner, including “The meeting place cannot be changed” and “Visit to the Minotaur” ” [4] .
