Career

At the 1936 Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, he competed in the 18 km race and relay race. In the race for 18 km took 9th place. The fourth stage was running in the relay, having gone to the stage as a confident leader with an advantage of 1.5 minutes from the pursuers, he missed the gold medal, losing 6 seconds to the Finnish Kalle Yalkanen and won the silver medal with the team.

At the 1935 World Cup he won silver in the relay, in addition he was 6th in the 18 km race.
