Career

Soccer Player

Thomas Tuchel is a graduate of TSV Krumbach Football Club. In 1988, he transferred to the football “ Augsburg ”. Since 1992, he has been able to play in the second division of the country for the Stuttgart Kickers from Württemberg , however, having played only 8 matches in the 1992/93 season and in the more than disappointing team of the 1993/94 season, Thomas loses his place in the first team. After that, he quickly transferred to the club of the regional league “South” ( III level ) “ Ulm 1846 ”, where he plays in 69 matches for the Swabian team; ends in 1998 the sports career of a football player due to chronic joint problems.

Coach

Tuchel began his career as a coach in 2000 as the head coach of the Stuttgart youth under 19 years old. After a five-year leadership of this club, he returned to Augsburg, where he worked for three years as a coordinator of work with the youth squad [1] .

On August 3, 2009, he was appointed head coach of the Mainz 05 club that went to the Bundesliga, signing a two-year contract [2] and taking this post after leading the youth team [3] . The first season under the leadership of Tuchel, "Mainz" finished in 9th place. Tuchel began the 2010/11 season very successfully, winning seven starting matches, including over the traditionally strong and hard-to-beat Bavaria home, which allowed the team to finish the season in fifth place. However, the team finished the next two seasons at the bottom of the standings.

In the 2013/14 season, Tuchel led the team to the Europa League, taking seventh place in the Bundesliga following the results of the game year [4] [5] . Thomas requested consent from the club management to leave his post after the season [6] , and although he did not receive direct consent to it, he nevertheless left the club on May 11, 2014 [7] .

On April 19, 2015, it became known that Thomas Tuchel will head the Dortmund Borussia instead of Jürgen Klopp after the 2014/15 season [8] [9] . July 1, 2015 headed the “Borussia Dortmund”. The contract is signed for 3 years. Tuchel's debut match took place on August 15, 2015 as part of the Bundesliga against Borussia (Mönchengladbach); In this match, Dortmund won a home victory with a score of 4: 0 [10] . Tuchel coached the team for two seasons, winning the Bundesliga silver and bronze medals, as well as winning the German Cup in May 2017. On May 30, 2017, the official website of Borussia announced a breakup with Tuchel [11] .

On May 14, 2018, he officially became the head of the French Paris Saint-Germain , signing a two-year contract [12] .
