At the 1987 World Championships in Austria, Igls won a silver medal on a double sledge.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, Ilzanker won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , overcame his qualifications without any problems and planned to fight for medals here, but in the end he finished in twos only fourth. At the World Cup in the next two seasons, he occupied the third and second places of the overall standings, and at the European Championship in 1990 in Imst won another silver award, finishing second in the competitions of mixed teams.
