Story

Can the girl, who never speaks ... become a voice of a generation?
Can a girl who is silent all the time ... become the voice of her generation?
(movie tagline)

Tara Adams (Debbie Ryan), a shy seventeen-year-old high school student at Lincoln Bay School who is afraid to speak with someone in school corridors or in the classroom. But in her bedroom, she is known as DJ "Rebel." Her alter ego inspires students and, in turn, they become her protégé. Her stepfather, Rob (Martin Cummins), works for SLAM FM, a popular Seattle radio station. When he finds out that Tara is a “Rebel”, listening to one of her podcasts at the request of DJ Camie Cue (Mercedes De La Zerda), he decides to put Tara as a DJ on SLAM FM.

Keeping the secret of Buntarka's identity, Tara becomes a hit because her radio show encourages her classmates to be themselves. She is having fun; on one occasion, she hosts a dance party during lunch at her school, where principal Moreno (Nancy Robertson) forbids listening to the Buntarki podcast. However, Moreno cannot order DJ Camy Kew to leave school because she has parked the car on public property (on the street) and has permission.

An angry Moreno decides to cancel the ball while Rebel hides his true identity. Her classmates give up on Buntark and call on the radio to say that she crushed their dreams. Frightened that Buntarka disappointed their listeners, Tara and SLAM FM decided to give the students Lincoln Bay Lab (English MORP) (the ball is written on the contrary (English PROM). Students nominate Buntarka to the title of Queen of the ball and, despite the fact that Moreno exclude her, Tara goes on stage to accept the honor of the queen.

In order to protect Tara, her best friend Audrey shouts, “No, Rebel is me!” Tara's lover, Gavin follows her example, and ultimately all students shout that each of them is Rebel, until Director Moreno admits defeat and leaves. Tara, filled with confidence when her classmates accepted her, gives Stacy's crown. Earlier, the adversary of the radio host, Stacy, said: “I am a Rebel!” And Stacy finally gets his crown. The film ends with Tara dancing with Gavin, who can finally be themselves.
