Biography
Born December 22, 1918 in a working class family. Ukrainian . He graduated from high school.
In the Navy since August 1936 . In 1939 he graduated from the Yeisk Naval Aviation School named after I.V. Stalin . Since November 1939 - Junior pilot of the fighter aviation squadron of the Air Force of the Black Sea Fleet .
On the fronts of World War II from June 1941 , he fought as part of the 9th fighter aviation regiment of the Air Force of the Black Sea Fleet . In 1942 he was transferred to the 20th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Air Force of the Northern Fleet . Squadron commander Captain E.V. Petrenko by July 1944 made 261 sorties to escort bombers and attack aircraft, for reconnaissance and other missions. He participated in 69 air battles in which he personally shot down 11 and in group 1 enemy aircraft.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 19, 1944 for exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and courage and heroism shown to captain Petrenko Evgeny Vasilyevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal under the number 4337.
By the end of the war, he completed about 300 sorties, personally shot down 15 enemy aircraft and 3 in the group [2] .
After the war, he continued to serve in the Navy of the USSR . Since June 1946 - Deputy Commander of the Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Air Force of the Black Sea Fleet.
In 1949 he graduated from the Red Banner Air Force Academy . He served as commander of the fighter aviation regiment of the Black Sea Fleet Air Force (since June 1950 ), commander of the fighter aviation division of the Pacific Air Force Air Force (since November 1951 ), deputy chief of staff for fighter aviation of the Pacific Fleet Air Defense (since December 1955 ).
Since April 1956, he has been teaching as a senior lecturer at the Department of Air Defense of the Naval Academy . He worked as a teacher in the Department of Tactics and History of Military Art of the A.F. Mozhaysky Leningrad Air Force Engineering Academy (since October 1959 ), and as a senior teacher in the Department No. 4 of the same Academy (since May 1961 ).
Since September 1974, Colonel E.V. Petrenko - in stock. He lived in Leningrad . Died July 22, 1976 . He was buried at the Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery of Leningrad.
