Ecelazor

Ecelazor ( Arm. Հեծելազոր ) is a type of organizational unit of the ancient Armenian army, especially during the reign of Tigran II the Great . Ecelazor consisted of light and heavy parts. Like Etevaki , it was divided into gundas (regiments), jokats (detachments), aryuraks (hundreds) and weeds (fifties). The soldier in ezelazor had a long spear, bow and arrow, sword and shield. During the battle, the ecelazor, as a rule, performed special tasks and took part in the most dangerous part of the battle.

The tsarist army was built on an ongoing basis, the core of which was ecelazor. There was a watchdog ezelazor, whose main task was to protect the fortresses in which the royal treasury was kept.
