Maccabi Ironi Ashdod ( Hebrew: מכבי עירוני אשדוד), commonly known as Ironi Ashdod , is an Israeli football club based in Ashdod . In 1999, he teamed up with local rival Hapoel Ashdod to create Ashdod .

History
The club was established in 1961 by the Ashdod Sports Association. In 1981, Maccabi Ashdod teamed up with Beitar Ashdod to create Maccabi Ironi Ashdod.
In the 1988/89 season, the club rose from League Bet to League Alef. In the 1989/90 season, he finished the championship in second place and after defeating Hapoel Daliyat al-Carmel and Maccabi Tamra in the playoffs. He entered the playoffs again in the 1992/93 season, reaching the top division for the first time in his history. After the season ended, at a distance of one position from the relegation zone in 1993/94, the club was downgraded according to the results of the 1994/95 season.
In the 1996/97 season, Ironi finished the championship in second place after Hapoel ( Ashkelon ) and returned to the top division. After two consecutive 12 places in the championship, the club merged with local rival Hapoel Ashdod, forming Ashdod.
Recreation
In the 2014/15 season, Ironi Ashdod fans protested against Ashdod president Jackie Ben-Zaken and supported Ashdod opponents during matches [2] . The protests intensified after Ben-Zaken's decision to rename the club “Hapoel Ashdod” to play in red t-shirts, while fans announced their intention to restore “Ironi Ashdod” with the goal of joining the Gimel League in the 2015/16 season [3] .
The club began the 2015/16 season in the Gimel League. Pini Ayash was appointed to the post of head coach [4] . At the end of the first season, the team reached the fourth division ( League Bet ).
