Petrinivsky district as part of the Cherepovets district of the Leningrad region was formed in August 1927 from 12 village councils of the Cherepovets district and 4 s / s of the Belozersky district of the Cherepovets province .
A total of 16 s / s were formed: Anninsky, Vasilyevsky, Voskresensky, Derymyaninsky, Dmitrievsky, Enyukovsky, Ivanovsky, Kirgodsky, Knutovsky, Kraskovsky, Litvinovsky, Pavlovsky, Panteleimonovsky, Romanovsky, Tolstikovsky, Chukshensky.
In November 1928, the Kirgodsky s / s was transferred to the Prisheksninsky district . At the same time, the Maltsevsky s / s was abolished and the Maltsevsky and Galinsky s / s were formed. In 1931, Kozlovsky, Kraskovsky, Petropochinkovsky and Semenogorsk s / s were transferred from the Kaduy district to Petrinivsky, and in January 1932 Ugryumovsky and Yaganovsky s / s were transferred from the Cherepovets region to Petrinivsky.
September 23, 1937 Petrinivsky district was transferred to the Vologda region.
On December 12, 1955, the Petrinivsky district was abolished, and its territory was transferred to the Cherepovets district.
