Popova, Lydia (skater)

Lydia Popova - Russian and Soviet figure skater , bronze medalist of the first world championship in pair skating in 1908, silver medalist of the first championship of Russia in women's single skating . She was paired with Alexander Fisher .

Biography

Lidia Popova was the organizer of the school of figure skating in Leningrad (1924-1927), organized a demonstration performance of figure skaters. In the season of 1923-1924, she, together with Ksenia Caesar and Ivan Bogoyavlensky, organized the first show of skaters in the USSR at a skating rink in the Yusupov Garden of Petrograd. In the season 1924-1925, she organized a feast on the ice of the Leningrad Provincial Council of Trade Unions on Kirovsky Avenue.
