Family
From the hereditary nobles of the Kherson province . His ancestors are Hungarian nobles who converted to Orthodoxy and moved to Russia in the 18th century. Great-grandfather served in the troops of P. A. Rumyantsev and A. V. Suvorov .
Father - Egor (George) Yakovlevich , Kherson provincial leader of the nobility in 1871-1876.
Mother - Leonid, nee Tulubiev .

General I.G. Erdeli was married to Maria Alexandrovna Kuzminskaya (1869-1923), the daughter of Senator A.M. Kuzminsky and the niece of his wife L.N. Tolstoy .

Participation in World War I

Since July 1917, he was a cavalry general . From July 12, 1917 he commanded the Special Army . He took an active part in the speech of General L.G. Kornilov , was removed from command, arrested and imprisoned in Bykhov prison .
Civil War
In November 1917, together with other general prisoners, he went to the Don , where from the first days he participated in the formation of the Volunteer Army . The participant of the First Kuban (Ice) campaign is a pioneer . In January - March 1918 - a representative of the Volunteer Army at the Kuban Regional Government. In March - April 1918 he commanded a separate Horse Brigade of the Volunteer Army, successfully operated during the days of battles near Ekaterinodar . From May to the end of August 1918 he commanded the 1st Cavalry Division. Member of the 2nd Kuban campaign .
In October 1918 he was sent to Thessaloniki to negotiate arms deliveries and the participation of British and French units in the fight against the Bolsheviks.
In January 1919 he was sent to Transcaucasia to establish contact with representatives of the English command. Since April 1919, he replaced General V.P. Lyakhov with the posts of commander in chief and commander of the troops of the Tersko-Dagestan Territory. Since July 1919, he was the commander -in- chief and commander of the troops of the North Caucasus ; on April 25, 1920 he was transferred to the reserve of ranks under the Armed Forces of Southern Russia (VSYUR) . He returned to the Crimea on the ship "Rus" on August 24, 1920.
Emigration
In 1920 he emigrated to France, worked as an accompanist, a driver. The commission continued its activities until the end of February 1938, and on March 1, 1938 published its opinion recognizing the fact of Skoblin's betrayal.
He died suddenly in Paris . He was buried at the Russian cemetery in Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois .
