Biography
Gerasim Zyryanov was born at the Loktevsky plant in Altai . From the age of seven he worked in mining operations. In 1766, it was determined by an ore washer. In 1782 he was transferred to bergizer, and in 1784 - a locksmith.
Discovery of the Zyryanovskoye Field
In 1789, the Kolyvano-Voskresensky mountain authorities came to grips with the Bukhtarma deposit. In April 1791, Steiger arrived with 12 workers from the Ust-Kamenogorsk fortress up the Irtysh to the Bukhtarma mine for mining and ore mining. And non-commissioned master Ryapasov with 8 workers on horseback went to conduct topographic surveys and describe the Irtysh-Bukhtarma region.
The workers who arrived at the Bukhtarminsky mine needed food, and G. Zyryanov was sent in search of game. At the end of May 1791, near the Berezovka River, the hunter came across traces of ancient workings, collected pieces of ore from dumps and brought them to the Bukhtarma mine. Studies performed at the Loktevsky plant showed a high ore content. Repeated studies have shown that ores are rich in gold and silver. In September 1791, two small mines were laid in the section that opened the ore vein. The field was called Zyryanovsky. Among the 23 miners who mined the first ore was G. Zyryanov.
With the onset of rainy autumn, without heated housing, good food and warm clothes, the workers could not stand the hard work and fell ill. Sick and G. Zyryanov. He was sent to the Bukhtarminsky mine, then to Voronya to pester on the Irtysh. And from there to the Ubinsk outpost. September 17, 1791, without regaining consciousness G. Zyryanov died.
Zyryanovskoye Field Value
Zyryanovskoye field is one of the richest in Altai. Already in 1792, the Alekseevskaya mine was laid. In the first four years, 81,205 poods of ore were mined, 38,235 poods were disassembled, and 24030 poods were sorted ore. The silver content ranged from 1.75 to 14.5 spools, lead from 1.125 to 11.5, and copper from 1.25 to 12 pounds per pound. In the first 10 years alone, more than a ton of silver was mined from Zyryanovsky ores.
Currently, the Zyryanovskoye field is close to its depletion. The reserves at the Maleevsky mine are enough for 5-10 years of operation. Grekhovsky mine closed due to unprofitability.
